Stuck inside...

As most of you know, we recently potty-trained Matigan (she's doing remarkably well with the whole thing!) and the method we used required us to stay inside for three consecutive days! Yikes! What to do, oh what to do...

Well.... Day one: We "made Christmas" in the house by putting up the tree, garlands, stockings, lights, decorative snowmen and santas. It was great fun and Matigan is excited about the holiday this year (although she really doesn't know what is going on).
Day two: We made a gingerbread house. Matigan really just loved to try to get the candy, but eventually was happy with dipping the candy in the frosting and then giving it to Ryan to place on the house. This was a great routine until she figured out that she could lick her fingers!

Day three: Ryan was at work so I tried to come up with "projects" as Mattie calls them. We made gingerbread dough and then rolled it out and made gingerbread men. We have yet to decorate them since all Matigan wants to do is eat the cookies! Are you picking up on the trend here? Matigan loves sweets!!

Every day we get to open a drawer on the Advent Calendar. Last year for Christmas Tiff's Dad and Mary Pat gave us an antique box with numbered drawers that contain little ornaments. On December First we pulled out the little tree that came with the calendar and now every day Matigan gets to open a drawer and place the ornament on the tree. It's such fun for her, but tough for her to grasp the concept that she can't open ALL the drawers at once!

What a wonderful season!

Being stuck inside is tough, but I'm so glad the whole thing went well for you! Doesn't it make you proud of Matigan and also proud of yourself for guiding it? Three cheers to you, Mom, for making it a success!
