More Holiday Fun

I have always known that this time of year brings out the inner-kid in us, but this year with a 2 1/2 year old Ryan and I are really getting a good look at our inner-kid! While Matigan is super-excited for the holiday she really doesn't quite understand all that is happening, but that doesn't stop us from doing all the stereo-typical holiday activities. This past weekend I ventured into some uncharted territory and decided that we should make and decorate sugar cookies and finally decorate the gingerbread men. After rolling out the dough, cutting the cookies, baking and making the frosting it was finally time to start decorating. We all sat down at the table and soon enough Ryan and I were having such fun and laughing at Matigan - all she was doing was identifying all the colors of the frosting and talking about who she would decorate for... but the only thing "decorated" was the inside of her mouth! Needless to say we ended up with a few dozen cookies that mostly looked like a pre-schooler decorated them, but alas, our preschooler hardly got any icing on the cookies!

Sarah was such a trooper during the whole process and made happy squeeling sounds and giggled. She is approaching 6 months of age and is eating solid foods (pears, prunes, rice cereal, sweet potatoes, squash) and is almost able to sit up on her own but topples quite frequently. She's such a happy baby and lights up our lives!!

Ryan and our good friend Garett made activity tables for Matigan and Garett's son Sawyer. In this picture Ryan and Matigan are sanding the table to prep for painting.Potty training is still going very well and Matigan continues to prove to us that she's a "big girl" now. Time sure flies, but we're blessed with two beautiful daughters and enjoy each day that we watch them grow and learn.
