Bighorn Wild and Scenic Trail Run

We were lucky enough to spend another weekend in Dayton, WY (near Sheridan) in the Big Horn mountains as Ryan attempted his third 50 mile appearance.   Again we were blessed to be able to stay at my godmother Trudy's ranch.   We enjoyed a fabulous family weekend.  The girls rode their bikes for hours and hours.  We fed chickens and collected eggs. We played with the dogs, hiked, and enjoyed the outdoors.

 Ryan finished his third 50 mile distance at this race.  Although he had a very tough race (IT band issues again) he was strong and finished well!!   This was a fabulous learning experience as he prepares for the Leadville Trail 100 in August.  I'm forever in awe of Ryan and his strength and perseverance.  I'm so proud!

The girls joined me in Scott park as we waited for Ryan to round the corner to the finish.  This year both of the girls ran the last 150 yards with their dad.

After a restful night following the race we enjoyed a relaxing morning visiting with Trudy and Dave.  Sam-Trudy and Dave's middle son came home from Oregon that morning and the girls were so incredibly excited.  Sam is a fabulous musician (as are his dad and brothers) and a couple years ago we left Dayton with one of Sam's CD's.  I can hardly believe that the CD still works as Matigan plays it nearly every day and falls asleep to "Sam music".  Country music is affectionately called "Sam music" in our house :)      Sam was kind enough to play a couple songs for us in the living room.  A real treat!   Sam will join his dad Dave and his brothers Tris and Ian as the Munsick Boys open for Lyle Lovett in Casper, WY on July 18, 2012.  Oh how I wish we could be there to witness the performance!

Dave let the girls ride Pete.  Matigan enjoyed her first horse ride!  (she was so excited that she went straight from the bike to the horse without removing the helmet!)

Sarah Corinne was a little more cautious on the horse, but enjoyed her first ride too!

A big thank you to Trudy and Dave for once again opening your home to us!  Our times in Dayton are among our favorite memories!
