As a parent we all know that there will be many bumps and bruises and some occasional blood when dealing with our kids. Yet when your little one takes a tumble or a terrible fall the parent's heart still skips a beat or two. A couple weeks ago Matigan and Ryan were busy making up fun games in the family room. Matigan "won" a couple times and came running to tell me about her big win! "Mommy, I winned, I winned" She turned around and ran back to the family room to play again. In all her excitement and silliness she tripped and went diving head first into the leg of the coffee table. OUCH! The sound of the thud was enough to make both me and Ryan stop in our tracks and stare at each other. Then comes the inevitable cry. A big cry. Then, queue the blood. Lots of blood. We rushed her to the bathroom to assess the damage. I was already going through the check list of items we would need for our first trip to the ER. After a quick look we determined that only her nose was bleeding and after we got her calmed down a bit the bleeding stopped. Whew. Major crisis averted!
The next morning Matigan woke up saying, "Mom, my eye is lower now". As I went into her room I could see what she was talking about. Her right eye was quite swollen and therefore felt "lower" than the left. So, another first for Miss Matigan. Her first black eye!

| Almost healed! |
As with all little ones, Matigan was incredibly resilient and we looked each day in the mirror to see the color of that day's "makeup". Her favorite was purple. Go figure!!
